Commencing May 7th, 2015 and running over 4 weeks in term 2, Draw it Out provides young women a nurturing atmosphere where some of the experiences of adolescence can be explored in a fun and interactive way. Each week has a different theme and art-making is self-directed.
Art provides an outlet for young people to immerse themselves in a creative process that taps into feelings, thoughts, and experiences which are sometimes difficult to communicate. Art can do the talking for us when words are too hard to find or our voice seems unheard.
Using the arts in a therapeutic way can bring up strong responses. The well-being and safety of participants during the program is an important focus so the group will be facilitated by myself and Youth Programs and Support Officer, Chenai Mupotsa.
